How It All Began

Our Story

The proposal at Oberg Mountain
Oberg Mountain, 2024
Jesse and Steph

How We Met

They matched on Bumble. Steph agreed to a first date after finding out Jesse liked cats and dogs. They started the night at Utepils Brewing and ended it at Park Tavern Bowling. It went well enough that they did it again. And again after that.

Four Years In

Four years of concerts, travel, and a lot of cribbage. They've been to Australia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and up and down the North Shore. They share a home now with three cats (Marshmallow, Lambeau, and Dom Dolla) and a yellow lab named Lucy, who all get along swimmingly, for the most part. Somewhere along the way, 'concerts' became a loose term that sometimes involves earplugs, a lot of water, and getting home at sunrise. No regrets.

The Proposal

Jesse brought a tripod on the hike to Oberg Mountain, a scenic overlook on the North Shore of Lake Superior in northern Minnesota, telling Steph it was practice before a music festival. Halfway up, Steph's back started bothering her and she suggested turning around. Jesse insisted they push on. At the summit he got down on one knee, which explained both the tripod and the urgency. She said yes. The photos are pretty great.

We're biased, but St. Paul is a great city. Some of our favorites: dinner at Tongue in Cheek or Moscow on the Hill, drinks at Barrio or Happy Gnome, and a walk along the Mississippi riverfront. Minneapolis is just across the river and worth the trip too.
